OK, the 725 was 1961 to 65 I think, had the model 19 briggs in it, 700 was 1959 and 60 and had the model 17. they were nice tractors. bevel gear box seams to be the weak link

So I noticed the PO left the spark plug loose and it was rusty and some rust on valve so I removed it with a magnet and soaked with MMO and oil then installed a better plug, then he left out the oil drain plug when he drained oil and some crud was in the threaded hole, so do I have to pull head and pan?

I'd just fill it up with oil, drain it right away, and fill it up again and run for a couple hours than drain, fill, and you should be good.
