It may be rebuildable, it all depends on the block and crank.

sorry,
the part that is chipped out, the part that extends
into the crankcase.
Many times they take a hit ( chipped out) but the block can be reused.
Many an engine of various kinds is running just fine with a chipped spigot or extension of the cylinder bore if you prefer.
it depends on the severity of the damage.

ah I see what you mean. I was wondering that since the piston doesn't go down that far.

However I think I saw a crack extending up another inch or so. May get a pic soon. Too full from dinner!

when pullers build stroker engines that part gets ground off anyway so i doubt it will hurt.

OK- I was wrong there is no crack extending past the chipped parts. cross shaft tab broken off too. It must have over RPM'ed.

You don't know if it over-revved? Weren't you there?

The block may be salvageable. Get it magna-fluxed (crack checked).

I finally got the camshaft out. Reread the manual about 5 times because I swore I was missing something. Just needed a bigger hammer.

Where are the timing marks on the crankshaft? I see a stamped 'D' and 'c'. is it the 'c'?

I also see the mark on the edge of the camshaft gear.

On your connecting rod cap- Was the oil hole towards the cam or away from the cam before it blew?? I've seen this a few times and it ends up looking like what you have. If it was away from the cam, it won't get enough oil to stay lubricated, especially at higher RPMs.
