I'm sure we'll get it figured out sooner or later.
Here is my modified lap tool used with cordless drill. The valve seats aren't loose and have no play.

I wouldn't have a tester for the sam box, I can say those coils are prone to fail. I usually put aftermarket ones in because the kohler ones are so expensive. I have a CH25 in one of my tractors. it has 2 different brands in it. look at the intake manifold gasket to the head, I've seen those get squished out and leak causing a mis

Update on this CH22-
I cleanup the heads, pistons and valves and got it put back together. Here are a couple of video's. I really think it was the coil. The first video is with the old coil and the 2nd is with the new one. I've run it quite a bit and its been great. Haven't put a load on it yet besides driving uphill but it didn't skip a beat on that. I have a small oil leak at the breather cover plate seen in the 2nd video. Guess what was the only gasket I didn't replace? Yep the breather plate. One is on the way. Yep Sam that's the one in the 2nd vid. Did you catch the backfire on the 1st video at the end? It kept doing that at WOT.
