Bought my last truck in 2007, and paid cash. It was my first and last new truck mind you. It's nice not having a payment, but seems even without one, the money goes someplace
If I ever need another truck I'm thinking about going used. New prices are just crazy high... but used isn't cheap anymore either...(derailed)
Congrats on owning your truck and being payment free

Then when it comes time to purchase a new(er) vehicle, you will have a sizeable down payment and will still be in the habit of making payments. I paid my truck off early and did not have any vehicle payment for 8 years. Then, time for another truck and I have been living tight ever since, despite paying off one house and paying the other one down while working two jobs for the past 15 years. If nothing else, that extra savings can be used while you are "cub scouting".

Looks like you and I are on the same page! One lesson instilled in me from a young age (and seems pretty obvious but today's society provides a good argument to the opposite) is always make more than you earn. I always stock some money away out of each paycheck but now that amount will just have to go up. Can never have enough saved!

Haven't had a vehicle payment in 10+ yrs. Credit cards went bye bye too. It is comforting to know, one does not have worry about making a payment in this day & age.

Congratulation!

I would offer this view too:
If after you've paid off your vehicle you continue to save the money that you would have used for the payment then why not have a new vehicle? Why continue to drive a used vehicle when you're still making a vehicle payment to savings?
Your used vehicle is depreciating more and the price of new ones will go up while your money isn't making anything, with the low rates of interest today.

Choices, choices. At least we have them.

Ryan, congrats on the truck. Take care of it and drive it until the wheels fall off of it. Cars and trucks are a huge waste of money. Why buy a new vehicle and loose 30% as soon as you drive it off the lot. My personal truck is a 1994 Z71 with only about 175k on it and my 2 other cars have 110k and 180k. I'm 1 year 100% debt free and it is a great feeling. Time to tune in to Dave Ramsey for some good advice.

That's the plan! Barring any major event (trans or engine taking a dump on me) I plan to drive this ol' girl until she's given all she's got. Should have another good 80k to 100k in her as she's only at about 120,000. Keep them fluids changed, zerks greased, and body washed/waxed and she'll be a hand me down to the kiddo's one day

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
