Got some pictures of the pulley on the snowblower and the alignment in relation to the PTO. I'm also pretty sure that the snowblower is not locking in place. You can see that it looks like the pulley is blocking the lock rod. Excuse the mess. Everything in the garage is temporary until we get concrete poured (one day...). Right now the hood of the 149 is a staging area and the 1200 is holding up my toolbox.

First from the pics it looks like the pulley is on the shaft backwards. The pulley if you can get it off I would turn it around. Try to drive the key way out first then maybe the pulley will work loose. I have the same blower on the same tractor with no issues. I would try that first also that large round piece that is hitting the lock lever you have to get the lever above that then it will slid all the way on. I run a 28 inch belt with my blower.

Those were my exact thoughts. I'll have to see if I have a punch that narrow/long. I'll also get the part number off the belt I have. It probably is about a 28-30" belt, but looks like it is very narrow, more so than the 1/2" belt that normally drives the mower deck. It looks like both pulleys could handle a 1/2-5/8" belt easy.

As for the lock lever, I have it backed off some in the pictures. It'll actually hit the back of the pulley. I'm not quite sure how to manipulate it while wrestling the blower on the frame to get it to lock properly.

I did some more research for you. I have attached two pics of my blower mounted, hopefully you can see the lock lever clears the shaft of the blower. Your pulley is on backwards for sure, I hope you can get it off. Finally the belt is a 28 inch belt I use a gates belt bought at Carquest the number is 4L280 or 2280. This is a direct replacement for the cub cadet belt. Make sure that the lock lever areas do not have anything else wedged into where the blower pins fit it, this will not allow you to lock the unit on the tractor. The lock lever is spring loaded so do not push it down while putting the blower on, when you push the blower back it will snap into place. Also the lever will be upwards toward the tractor and not down towards the blower.Hope this helps

Just notice that your blower mount looks different from mine???? Not sure I am using a Q42 blower but mine mounts look like this on these attachments

Been there, done that long ago....

To remove the pulley:

1- I use a mix of 50/50 acetone & ATF like Jeff have already suggest you (It's the best loose nut stuff you can get)

2- Since this didn't work for me I use a Methylacetylene-propadiene yellow bottle (MPS gas) and HEAT THE PULLEY NOT THE SHAFT and remove it with a puller.

3- My pulley is backwards like yours and IT WORK so unless the shaft leg have been cut this should work fine! Not mentioning how easier it is to torque the Allen this way...

4- Clean the front of this engine, look like you need a new crankshaft seal and both pulley (PTO+Blower) may have a hard time not slipping...

5- Recommended OEM belt is 30", I use a 29.5'x 1/2" belt who is a PITA to install so donwload the manual and learn how to adjust that blower.

It looks like you have a q42a blower that model has some other brackets. Mine is just a q42 hope what I gave helps on the quiet line that the pto pulley size is 41/2 I still recommend a 28 inch belt but I leave that up to you good luck

OEM Belt for a QL series is IH-55053-C1 (15/32" X30")

OEM pulley for a QL series is IH-485247-R91 (1/2"X4")

I use a 3 1/2" pulley to speed up the fan on mine but I don't recommend you do that.

PS: A good trick to found out what belt size you need is to use a rope ,hold it tight and drawn a line were both side joint on the rope and then measure the distance from the end of the rope to your line.

Now the total is 3 and a half cents...

I actually have a yard tape, but it's too tight for me to get into it with the blower mounted so I can measure it. I have no acetone or torch, but a good amount of ATF having a stanadyne injected diesel truck

I pulled the blower off today and tried to drive the key out of the collar on the pulley. Since it's on backwards I can't get it all the way out before it hits a snap ring (looks like it anyway). Dug out my dampener puller and to use it I'll have to get some longer/smaller diameter bolts and nuts to get through the holes in the pulley. If I had some I'm sure I would've gotten it off today.

As for the lock lever, I had a total brain fart and forgot that it locks in the upright position.

And yes, she's a leaker. And the mounts need replaced. One day I'll get the engine out of the 1200 and rebuild it so I can do a minimal downtime engine swap. But so far I haven't had a belt slip on the drive side (while mowing thick/tall grass at least). Unfortunately the Cubs have to rough it and hold on for awhile as I have to rebuild the front end and fuel system on my diesel truck and I still have another truck out back that needs frame patched/replaced, engine/transmission rebuilds and the 1 ton front axle swapped in.

I'll be in town next week so I'll pick up bolts to use the puller then and report back. Thanks!

I have another idea for removal of the pulley put a bar in the u joint yoke up by the gearbox. Then place a pipe wrench on the pulley where the set screws are. Now using common sense this my get the pulley loose. I still stand behind my belt recommendation because I have the same set up you do and my manual states the pto pulley diameter is 41/2 good luck hope this works
