That picture is very cool! The only things my grandfather ever bought were used wrecks and moonshine!
There is a Case IH dealership in Burlington, WI that still uses a building of that IH design. It has been remodeled but many of the unique features are still noticeable.

Todd,
Now we see that the IH RED runs pretty deep in the Zippel family! Yea if you don't have it, I would try to get a copy of the original picture and have it framed in your house or shop. That's awesome!
So did he buy the tractor? If so do you still have it?
Regards,
Chris

I talked to the editor's office and was told that after the article was written they were asked to find some pictures for said article. Pictures are from an old IH handout the dealers had, so no John, nothing submitted from our end...

Yeah Chris, I was riding on a super C and W-9 before I could walk... Granddad had two Super C's and one C, W-9, 856 that were all bought from this dealer as well as four pickup trucks and most of the implements...
Nothing left but the back half of the C sitting behind our house with trees grown around and through it... Would make a good lawn ornament.

Otter Sales & Service. I need to get up there, they are cheaper than my local CC dealer.

I hadn't seen this thread. This is awesome. I also notice the fuel pump and the Pegasus (Mobil?). Any corporate connection to the oil company?

Thanks for sharing with the rest of us...who never experienced that era. "Red Pylon" designed building with Mobilgas pump (Tokheim?) to the right of the entrance. Cool!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
