My dad has a 1440 and the turning radius is much better than any cub I've ever own, its a great mowing tractor.

I'd get her a push mower.

I'd get her something with a foot controlled forward and reverse. Like I said look at a 2000 series. Do I like the 2000 series, no but the reality is that if the user is not comfortable with the hand control and steering on a 782 then any of the other GT's are just going to be more of the same. I've said all I can on this thread so see ya I gotta go.

Y'all know what I'm gonna say. Get a 3000 series. They came standard with a foot controlled hydro with cruise control, power steering with a tight radius, shaft driven deck, hydro lift and a beverage holder. Once you mow with power steering and the foot controlled hydro you won't use anything else.

Oh, that doesn't sound too bad. You wouldn't believe what my wife's run over, cell phones, house wireless phones, whole logs about 1.5' in length (with the 60" haban, it came split out of the deck with the mowed grass, then rocketed off and punched a hole through the house siding, wiped 3 of the 4 gauge wheels off the haban 60" deck in one sitting) I try not to be around when she's mowing for me....

I hit a 2ft long piece of pipe with my 60" last year. it was 2" pipe, put a nice split in it and wedged the blade in it. took awhile to get it out, but didn't hurt the freakin mower at all! Woke me up though!

And you still let her operate it!?!?

You guys are both better than I am.

When I bought my 1811, my wife at the time wanted to surprise me one day by mowing the yard. It was during farming season and I had been busy. Anyway, I came home to her blowing all the grass to the inside (the grass was like 8" tall) and there was an awful squealing and screeching from the belts, along with smoke, because she was way overloading it. I made her get off immediately and she was no longer allowed to use my Cub. I paid way to much for that thing for it to get torn up.

That's what I think if she's mowing a residential lot. I got a LTX1040 last year http://216.157.93.126/forum/showthread.php?t=40705 and used it at my mothers house a few times. It' not the bull my 1863 is but it's lighter, easier to get on /off and the foot controls allow both hands on the steering wheel to dodge those trees. This will be a minority opinion I'm sure.

Yes as I said, wife loved her 1430 and used the dash hydro control with no problems. 20 years ago we had a 1450 she mowed with also. My neighbor had a pedal tractor and it was awkward. She'll do fine with something that has similar horsepower like maybe the 1440 or 1541. Thanks for the positive replies, good to learn that the turning radius is tighter and that some have the Sunstrand pump. Tilt wheel and gas tank fill location is nice also.

Sounds like you have your mind made up between a 1541 or a 1440.

One last comment from me on this one. The 1541 has a de-rated M18 for it's engine. Pretty much the same tractor as your 782.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
