My 1863, purchased new, never had any retainers at the fan screen. Screen snaps onto the pins.

yesterday I took an air hose a blew the worst of the crap out of the Stator. then last night and this morning I squirted it with diesel fuel. after lunch I went to the car wash and under the scornful eyes of the owner washed the engine. After I got home I took the old seal out (after the picture) and cleaned the stuff out of the flywheel. Still got to clean the shroud.

Thanks. I'm going to try To find a seal tomorrow (KH2403219S) if I can. I have a blown CH22 that I think calls for the same coils. I have mixed emotions about not using new coils since it's kinda hard to get to them, But cheap will probably win out.

Reminds me of the time a buddy and I after a day of dirt bike riding stopped at the car wash to wash the mud off our bikes and ourselves. The car wash owner told us to never come back. Think we plugged up the drain.

Engine looks much better!

I went and got the seal this morning and installed it. I went to the shed and got the blown CH22 but the coils on it are different and the Allen head screws that hold them on are striped. Since it's some trouble to get to these things I'm thinking I'll get 2 new ones. Amazon has these.

I put the flywheel and CV joint adapter back on this morning. I decided while I'm waiting on the coils I'm going to clean and repack the CV joint. Does this call for #2 grease, wheel bearing grease or other? Any thing I need to watch for taking it apart and putting it back together?
