Did anyone on here get this? The owner and I have been emailing back and forth and I thought we agreed on a price but I was wanting a pic of the serial tag. He then emailed me back and said a guy from IL. offered him $50 more but he has to drive 150 miles to meet him. I'm thinking the fuel will eat the extra $50 and then he will spend a day driving. Oh well, I guess this tractor just wasn't for me.

I agree, by the time he drives 300 miles and has to stop to buy lunch he will be out more than $50.

I wondered what happened to that tractor. But you are right... no way he can drive 300 miles and come out of that deal ok.

I'm not PO'd that I didn't get it because I was kind of on the fence about driving 480 miles round trip to get it. I just hope it doesn't get parted and someone on here does get it and uses or restores it.

Someone here got it. He texted me last night. Someone that had farmer in their name. He has a red 982, and wanted that one for a grandchild. So I think it will be fixed and not parted.

He is not going to pick it up till after the first of the year so it may be a while. Also it may not happen. If it does not happen, I guess I will go and get it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
