Sounds good! Time to drive it around and see how it performs. Be sure to check for loose or broken rear end mounting bolts as has been suggested. At your leisure, read up on the 60" Haban Deck and the issues unique to them. Not saying they are bad or anything, love both of mine. But they are set up a little differently and due to there great weight cause some unusual wear on the mule drive/lift. If you have no idea about how the hydro was maintained consider changing the fluid. At minimum crack the drain plug and see if the fluid is milky. If not, you can probably get by with changing the filter. Plenty of good reading on here on that series machine (and its close relatives).

Sounds pretty good. Change the oil and filter on the tranny. If it's been sitting for 3-5 years it has a ton of condensation in it.

Thanks for the Vote of Confidence Guys. Now I have a few Questions about the 2072 I trust you can probably answer easily enough...Here Goes..
1) Probably a Really STUPID Question but I'm Curious , WHY is it even Called a 2072 if it is in fact the same as the 1872 and the other Supers, except for the engines used in the others?? What does the second # 72 Stand for anyway??? I know the 20 is obviously the HP but in most other garden Tractors the second # usually stands for the Deck Width size... not the case here..So What is the significance of the # 72 ????? 2) I've Been searching for a Manual on the 60 inch Deck and 54 Inch Plow , no luck. Any ideas on where I can get one. 3) Exactly what type of Hydro Fluid should be used? Can I use the same Tractor Surply Universal Fluid I put in my bigger farm Tractors? 4) As I said in the video the Brakes are NOT there at all. I will try the adjustment procedure but if I need new Pads where can I get them? 5) I'm sure I'l have more questions as I get into it. Should I start a new tread for this or continue here?? Thanks for all the Help. |

We argue what fluid to use just for fun!
I use CaseIH Hytran if I have it. If not I use Deere HyGard. A lot of guys use store brand oil that meets HyTran specs. Any of those 3 should be fine. Make sure your brakes aren't rusted up and and free floating like they are supposed to.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
