Test fitted the shaft today and started to lay out the wiring harness. The drive shaft looks like it came from the factory that way. I was hoping to pick up another parts tractor cheap for the foot rests and dash tower, but that didn't happen. Guess it's time to call Uncle Ray for the feet rests. Still deciding which fan to use, if any?

I also used my C-clip pliers to respring the trunnion spring. Worked like a charm! Hopefully it holds for a year or so. I removed a 1/4" of slop in a few precision squeezes.

Not yet. Today its time to get the mower back on the 1864 and kill some grass. I may get to work on it later. It has to move to get the deck out. I'll put it back in the wrenching bay. Hope to see some smoke by the weekend.

I started trimming and fitting the 2166 harness today. I am going to use the brake switch to trigger a small starter relay, so I will have to drop the screen to get that hooked up. I also need to decide which style relay to use. Trim a few more wires, find my small wire loom, and run the fuel line. Them smoke test. It looks like a plate of spaghetti now, but I'll eat whatever isn't needed. I like spaghetti!!.

Anybody know why MTD started fusing the ground side? Other than they are really skeptical of their wiring? I'm confident in my wiring, so that will go away.

Good looking project Travis, it cleaned up well. Interesting that they used a fused negative, I see that a lot in what I do but not normally with anything frame grounded. What Fluke Meter do you have? Looks like a model 88.

You have pretty good eyes! I bought that 88 in the late 90s through the Mac tools student program. I think it was 55% off. One of the best tools I've ever owned. I also have a 97 scopemeter.

Got the fuel tank in and lines run. Went to crank it and the hydro fluid went flying. I noticed a little wet spot under one of the lines coming off the pump the other day so I snugged up the fittings. That opened up the cracked line.

I had a spare set of lines for an 1811, so I cut one in half and bent it to mate up with other half of the broken line going to the steering valve. I just need to pick up a 3/8 compression fitting tomorrow. Keep your compression fitting comments to yourselves, please! I know what I'm doing. And I slept at a Holiday Inn last night.

I may drop the drive shaft and fire it up tonight anyway.

I like these fittings if I have to splice a hyd tube.

I had to use one on a high pressure fuel injector line on a Cat 3412 600 KW generator and it held just fine.

Cool fittings Sam. This will get what the parts store has tomorrow, but I will get some of those to keep in stock. It's going to get tested well before it goes to Winchester.

I got it fired up with a piece of hose and fuel injection clamps tonight. Apparently neutral and the brakes need adjusted. It decided to go backwards. Dropped the drive shaft and tried again. Forgot I never cleaned the carb out, now that's done. Should be taking its maiden test drive tomorrow, unless you count the 2 feet it went backwards tonight.
