I was thinking about my Original, but let's face it, it won't be used for yard work. I need something to use hard, and the Kubotas are nice tractors. They seem to hold their value? I looked into buying a used one, but I always like to buy new. Jonathon is right about the spreaders, overkill for my needs.

Yes, they hold their value very well. Nothing wrong with used. When it comes to cars and equipment, I never buy new. All your doing is wasting money. You can find a nice used Bota with low hours that Joe Homeowner didn't use much and traded in, or is just selling outright. Only issue is that Joe Homeowner also thinks that since he didn't put any hours on his Kubota that he can sell it for $500 less than he paid for it 5 years ago. Now, they hold their value, but not that good....

I can't imagine at your age and the condition of your yard that you would use a tractor "hard". You might use it often, but not hard. Your not trekking the woods hauling logs. Your not scooping cow sh!t out of the barn, then using a manure spreader across a field.... I mean, your just using it for yard work. You can't be that "hard" on a tractor. Unless you bought some property and plan to use it as a dozer to clear a spot for a house.... In which case we need to talk because then you need a backhoe, not a SCUT, LOL.

I think you'd like the Kubota. Just shell out the cash and get one.

I had a Super with all the goodies and since getting my Bota with the FEL and belly mower I haven't looked back for a work horse.... I even have an A frame for the 3pt that I modified for Sleeve hitch attachments... I use my Cadet 80 to pull the yard spredder and sweeper....(cub related)

I have been watching my local CL listings Sam. But, if I'm only gonna save a grand, I would rather buy new? Or am I wrong?

Lol, I live in a neighborhood where all the lawns look like they would fit on the cover of Homes and Gardens. It takes more work than some of you guys will ever know. I just came in from working on that damn lawn and I am soaking wet with sweat. Maybe I should start thinking about scaling down? I mean, at 62, I would hate to have anymore health issues and have to pay someone to do this. But the Wife says no so I want a bigger tractor! OH, I forgot about my neighbor down the street. If I get a shinny new Kubota, he will also.

I feel for you with keeping up with the neighbors. Guess I'm lucky, around here you see plenty of yards that grass can't even grow because of all the junk cars up on blocks with no wheels. I have about 100 head of black angus next to me and the smell of Chit is shall we say a bit over powering. Still it's better than the smell of the city.

Believe me when I say, I am envious of people that live on and off the land. When I was in my late 20's, I begged my better half to move to Alaska, but no way. But then again she told me not to buy gold coins when gold was 270.00 an ounce, but I did. I always have wanted to live in Alaska, where you don't hear any noise and hunt for your dinner. But now, I couldn't cut wood for the wood stove without having to make a Doctors appointment the next day.

A couple pics of my smelly neighbors. The farmer that runs this operation has feed troughs down both sides of the long silver roof shed, he has a large tandem feed truck that discharges cattle feed out of a chute into the troughs. I call it the ice cream truck. The cattle go crazy when it shows up. The nice dark brown dirt is a high quality mix of dirt and cow poo. Always nice when the wind is blowing towards my place which it does most of the time.

Think of the lawn as a gym membership! Dad told me he was tired today. He rolled 12 acres of freshly harrowed, hilly land for me today with this outfit--no power steering---and he is 87.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
