I'm pretty certain, the red 184 and 185 do the best in "holding their value". Hey, I'd dam near give up my whole collection, and then some for a good 154 Lo Boy!

I have 5 acres, and a 154 would suite me just fine, lol! Jon, your pretty much on the ball about a trade in to a dealer. last month, the local CC dealer picked up a 154 in nice condition on a trade in. The 154 came with a tow behind Woods self powered 60" deck. Dealer said he put 400 into the lo boy, and was asking 1800!!

Like I said, I'd sell mine. I'd even be willing to meet you to get rid of it. For the right price, I'd deliver it to your door!

Just as a note, the 185 was yellow. 184 was red.

I have two 154's and a 48 cub...love them all, but they are high maintenance and the 154's do have clutch issues, but if you have good mechanical skills then these repairs are a snap......I don't have a 125, but I have a 100, and that little bugger works hard and starts right up every time. The thing to remember is the loboys only have 12 to 15hp depending on year and piston style.

I also have a 9N, but I wont say the "F" word on this forum.....LOL

They want crazy money around my area for cubs. You could find a decent M or H for cheaper than a cub!

I may make the deal. I found someone this weekend actually looking for a lowboy. I'll make the trade then sell the lowboy and make a profit.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
