I don't think it is a Mustang. When I was 8 my father came home with a Mustang mower. I think it had a 22" deck. We had 8 acres to cut. My dad would let me cut around the house with it. He soon realized he could not do all with the mustang because he would just be finishing when it was time to mow again. I still live in the same house an my son does not get how lucky he is he gets to cut with a commercial Z turn. All done in a few hours.

I'm 99.9% sure that is NOT a mustang. If I could get the forum to let me upload off my phone I would show the pic of the one I recently sold.
It looks to be more of a huffy to me but I am by no means a expert on these little guys. There were many manufacturers of them

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
