Saw ad in newspaper on Tuesday for a IH 149 for sale. Called about it that morning and low and behold it was 15 minutes from where I live. It belongs to a 94 year old man. Talking to his Daughter and She said that Her Dad became too frail to mow with it last year so they decided to sell it. Wanted $600.00 OBO. Went to look at it and was pleasantly surprised. Her Dad bought it new and it was never used for any thing but cutting grass on a not too big a lot. I had brought $400.00 with me in my Cub Cadet Fund bank envelope. After hearing it run, I handed the Daughter the envelope and said there is $400.00 dollars in it and would they sell it for that. She said Dad will you let it go for that? He said You are the Boss. She said Dad this is your tractor and I want you to be Happy either way. I thought, no way will he take it, but he did. They had not had any other call about it at that time. Also came with like new chains for the 10.50's on the rear. I told them I was going to get my trailer and would be back in the after noon. Got Home, ate lunch and went out back to get Trailer. Got the Simplicity out of shed to pull it up front. Took Tarp off trailer and happened to look at big grass bush about 3 feet away and there was a fairly large black snake in the bush. It could have bitten me as I was real close to the bush getting tarp off trailer. It finally went down into the holler, but it had already ruined my day. Arrived to pick up Tractor and the Lady said if you want to sell it you will have no trouble. She had received 3 calls in 2 hours that I was gone. Tried to load it on trailer but 50" deck was about 2 inches too wide. I worked for an hour getting the deck off. I'm old and slow. Got it loaded and made it home. Took pictures of it still on the trailer. Needs new front tires and the steering has a little play. I am happy and I hope the previous owner is happy. I get carried away with my stories, but enjoy the pictures. Have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
