The pink wire is the ground, and should be placed on the top the regulator mounting bolt that has the braided wire coming off it, which, by the way has to be clean and shiny for good ground. The other end of the pink wire is attached to the dash tower mounting bolt on the right side with the battery ground, make it shiny! The one on the back should gen, can you see what it says? If not do a rubbing with a pencil and paper...

The "L" terminal (stands for LOAD) is for extra current drawing equipment such as lights, etc. If your lights operated fine before, just leave "L" empty.
The "F" terminal (stands for field) and connects directly to the "F" post on the starter/generator via the "yellow" wire. The "B" terminal (stands for battery) and connects via the "gray" wire to the negative side of you amp meter (if you have one) or a terminal block (if you don't). That leaves you with a "blue" wire. On the standard v/r, the blue wire would go on the "G" (stands for gen) terminal which connects directly to the "A" post on the starter/generator. On the aftermarket v/r the post on the back is the "gen". Put the blue wire there. If you haven't already fried the new v/r, it will work. And as others have already said, make sure the mounting of the v/r makes good contact to ground. |
