UPDATE........checked transmission linkage and adjustments according to manual. adjusted nothing as everything checked ok. guess i'll just live with it. if nothing else i got to clean out 11 years of grass clippings that got to hide in all the nooks and crannies, which i was able to see when i removed the fender pan. i don't like working standing on my head (too old for that shit) this machine hasn't been used since 2016 when i got a gravely zero turn. this machine is going to be used as yard/snow removal tractor, which it's very good at. got a 48 inch craftsman blade, made a frame and mount pushing from the frame just ahead of the rear axle. used a winch from horror freight on a home brewed mount in front, works slick. thanks for the assisstance, we gave it the old college try
