Does your Cub Cadet have hydraulic lift?

I wouldn't use the lock out pin when using a snow thrower or blade. Good way to break something.
Here is my IH Cub Cadet 149 that has hydraulic lift with the float lock out in place:

I have the same issue with not being able to lift blower with my 1250 hyd. lift, 28" rod too. In going to put a chain lift on it, but I am thinking about hooking it up to my 1450 to see if it's any different.

Found this thread while cruising around and I have a question.

Is the lift arm float in Merk's pics standard on 149's?

My newly acquired 1973 149 does not have that lock/float block, but at some point the arm broke and was (poorly) repaired, so it could be missing.

I have to pull it and do a proper repair, but before I cut it back and weld a new end on, it would be great to have the actual measurement from the center of the rocker shaft to the center of the piston eye.

Being a first time owner of a "big" Little Tractor, just reading hundreds of threads here has been a real education. Sometimes you have to move a lot of dirt to find a little gold, but it's there! Thanks all!!

The lift arm float is the way your tractor can from the factory. Lockout pin is an option.

Thanks for the quick reply and info, Merk!

For my purposes, since I'll never have a mower deck anyway, I'm going to eliminate the float on that connection. I'll fab a float for the front lift arm and provide float for the rear lift.

I am, of course, finding some well intentioned but poorly executed "repairs" as I go along. The frame for the plow was remade and now I have to redo that.

Next is remove all the shafts and linkages from the lift system to take all the slack out of there.

Did you make sure the mounting
bar used for mounting is swung up and locked out of the way ?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
