Fair enough Ol'George I see where you're coming from and you're right, some people don't know $#!+ from smell and shouldn't be allowed to handle tools! Lol. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt that they will research things they're unsure of and if they feel they're in over their head that they will find someone with the experience to help, I just wanted to make sure he was aware it was adjustable in case he's exhausted all other options. Lets hope VR #3 is the golden ticket! We're rooting for you man! Lol

Default 124 Over charging

Regulator #3 came in from Norman today (1st from IST). Started it up and the amp gauge went to full charge. Went to get a volt meter and when I got back to it it was right in the middle. Put the meter on it and she's 14.4 at full throttle. It's a good day. Thanks to IST and those who responded here

Thank you for the reply, we all like a happy ending.
I too had a problem with an amazon supplier, sending a "new" print head.
The printer would not recognize it, and the terminal board clearly showed marks from previous usage.
The second print head was recognized, but not only showed previous usage,
it had residual ink present in the nozzle, and it printed worse that the head it was replacing.
it want back for a full refund.
They don't screen their suppliers properly is my take.

Seems very unlikely.

Are you SURE you have it wired per the labeling on the terminals?

What a mess. It's tricky with electrical stuff as a lot of it is not returnable.

Good group of enthusiasts here. I went from no charging to 13.8 volts on my 125 thanks to just posts of others here. I bench tested the starter/gen, polarized it, then checked all wiring with a Fluke meter using continuity test. Turns out I had a broken wire and I repaired going by what’s stamped on the regulator terminals. I happen to have a two coil, non-adjustable regulator that was clean and dry on the inside. I’m not sure what an original Cub 125 voltage regulator looks like on the inside. But again, this site is a great resource for people like me who have never owned a real garden tractor, let alone a June of ‘68 Cub 125.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
