Yeah I'm thinking putting it in a "standard" place would be worse than putting in it a well thought out location.
Very low odds I will ever show my machine to anyone who knows any better.
I like my dash decal and am definitely not ruining the logo

I had one that was mounted here by the PO. Put a 2" hole in this spot.

Ok, just got the new meter yesterday and did a short ride and my electrical problem seems to have been fixed by taking the generator apart and sanding the new brushes so they contact the commutator across the whole face of them and cleaning the regulator contacts. Have to mow today and see if the regulator voltage setting works like it did on my test bench.
Meter shows around 15 A charging when I momentarily ground the field connection so everything seems functional and the generator is not getting immediately hot.
I just put in an order for a replacement wire harness though because the wires are cracking where they come out of the loom to go to the generator and ignition, that old insulation has very little life left in it.

I've had several over the last 40 years that someone mounted a volt or amp meter on the rh side of the dash just like you did.. many years I thought it was a factory option.. I've never actually had one that had the factory bracket in the knee slice location! LOL.. looks good where you put it!

I saw a video of a 102 a while back that had the ammeter mounted directly on the starter generator. It's out of the way if you don't mind looking around the side of the tractor to check. But I suspect the vibration would make it illegible...

And vibration is not good for meters of any kind, that is why better quality meters are rubber mounted.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
