I've been thinking about this and just gotta ask again. I understand that if I were to just swap the aluminm rear for the cast iron rear that I would need to have a new driveshaft because the two transmissions are different lengths. BUT if I bolt in the cast iron rear and it's mated driveshaft fro the 1200, I don't know why this would not work without modification except that possibly the M-18's flywheel output may sit further back or foward in the engine cradle as compared to the K301 in the 1200.
Does anyone know if this is the case? I do not have the 1806 yet to take a measurement. Thanks all. |

I know this is an old thread...
Tonight I plan to remove my aluminum trans and install a cast trans with a 19 tooth 2nd gear. I find this stating the drive shaft is a different length. Does anyone know the length difference? |
