I agree with Eagle Keeper..... What is with all the box stores putting bumpers on their tractors? I see a lot of them around here with them on....people that bad of drivers? OMG! And these people drive cars & trucks down the roads? No wonder mothers pull their kids off the streets at certain times of the day!

Yes, New Holland did a WAY better job than Cub Cadet did that is for sure.

$6k for a tractor that looks like half of it is plastic with an air cooled motor. I thought they would have done better. I like the looks of the 40th year tractor better.

i wish most of my cubs had rear bumpers on them before i got them. i think my 1650 is the only one that doesnt have dents in the fenders from the POs. i dont understand how people back into stuff mowing???

It is terrible the way some people treat their equipment though. I mean its not a bull dozer people that is clearing a path through a bush. Last time I checked Cub Cadet didn't sign on with the builder of Sherman Tanks either???


So just wondering....does anyone know who designed this "great anniversary edition"?? Was it Cub Cadet themselves or did they put it out to the public? How come they didn't call on Myron, Rolland or Matt, to dig through their stash of knowledge and reference books to come up with a "New Generation" Cub?? Does it at least have a cheesey plastic emblem on it saying its a 50th Anniversary Edition? Let me guess....its probably chrome too if there is one?

About the only thing I can see that may be called "improvement" is the fabricated deck. But, the only reason why manufacturers of commercial equipment use fabricated decks is that they don't want to spend the money in buying a big enough press to make stamped decks in the thicker gauge steels. It would take a tremendous force to stamp 7 gauge metal, so they "fabricated" the decks by welding. Which creates seams to rust, right angle pockets where grass can build up. So even the fabricated deck may not be an improvement.

BTW, only John Deere has a large enough press to make stamped decks in 7 gauge metal - which they do for their commercial decks. They call their commercial decks "7 Iron" because of the stamped 7 gauge decks.

I have to agree with the sad end of it. At least a MTD "attempt" at even a slight retro look would have been OK. I guess you can look at it at the 50yr anniversary of the cub cadet name?

I think I'd rather stick that kind of money into an IH built cub cadet and end up with a tractor :biggrin2.gif:

Email Cub Cadet,,,I have been doing it for years. No response. We are conceived as a small sector of their business . Years ago I was in the final steps of opening a Cub Dealership in Lakeville NY. The day I was supposed to sign the papers the company rep says, I have good news here is a brochure for our new line-up of tractors. It was the 2000 series. I walked out the door and have been hoping for Change,,,Did I say that ? Wash my mouth out with soap. As far as the design team for the 50 yr model ,,,, I heard it was a bunch of Chrysler workers on their lunch break. Also incorporated in the green model is a Stirling powered model that runs on Global warming, Rubber mower deck blades, so they won't hurt the grass, Front, rear, side Airbags. Breathalyzer blow tube to prevent mowing with a beer and a alpha wave detector that engages the autopilot when you have negative thoughts and drives you to the nearest reprogramming facility ....
