There hasn't been a day that past by that I haven't re- lived the sighting of that bobcat. My story has been retold to all my friends over & over. Some may think that's its no big deal, but hunting as many years as I have it was & seeing what I saw made a big difference to me. To be somewhat obscure sitting under that cedar & watching Mother Nature at its best.
Now for the last 5/7 years locals of Taney county MO., have talked about mountain lions also. Don't know how I'd react if that would have been a mountain lion????? A change of underwear maybe?

Zippy that picture is to cool. Image seeing that ---- LIVE------? That close.

That sausage looks fantastic Chris, wish i lived a tad closer to ya.
Haven't had venison sausage in years. But can't forget that unique taste that it has. A sure way to relive a hunting trip while nibbling at it. Miss it.

Nik,
Woke up last night and tried to recall all the deer that I have killed. I dont know 30 or 40 ish. Remembered most and them, then another hunting event would pop into my head! Several hunting event with my wife Cheryl too! Many good memories have been made hunting and spending time with family and friends.
Our grandson Nic and his girlfriend Brandi stopped up last night and gave us the news that Nic proposed Saturday while they were deer hunting! No fuss no muss, just a big engagement diamond, from him to her under a tree in the woods! They both love to hunt!
We wish them the best and are so happy for them! This will be a first for us, a grand daughter-in-law!
Regards,
Chris

Default My best deer hunt

I like Chris have shot many a wild animal in my life. Four Pope and Young whitetails, bear and turkeys but I think the best hunt for me was the first year Nancy went hunting. She went from, "I could never kill such a pretty animal" to a hunting machine, not that she was against hunting, but personally didn't think she could kill one.

Then four years ago she wanted to try rifle hunting. I think it was a way for her to harvest an animal that wasn't going to be up close and personal like it would be bow hunting.

Opening weekend on the first day her and I were in the hunting shack, it's a 8x8 shack I built years ago for hunting so my woosy self could stay warm. But anyway she passed on shooting 1 1/2 year old bucks and does throughout the day, and that first evening about an hour before shooting hours a real nice 3 1/5 year old 9 pointer fed out of the feed strip into the food plot.

This thing was out there for 20 min.it was either facing or turned away from us, then when it was broadside there would be another deer in front or behind it. I was a basket case! Well then finally after what seemed like hours the buck was alone and broadside at 85 yards.

I told her to take the shot whenever she could, just like we practiced because I was coming un-glued, I was worried the buck would get distracted or catch our wind and bolt, or we were going to run out of shooting time. Just at that moment I heard the bark of my 308 and saw the buck fold up. She was like, "did I get it, did I hit it good, is it dead"? Yes dear, all the above.

She started out large, her first deer was a nice 9 point with 16 4/8 inside spread, and weighed 180#. She hasn't shot another buck, but many does. And last year she killed her first deer with a bow. So for me, her first hunt was my best.

Default My Deere Ender

Well my Dad (PaulS) and I went out here at home this past Saturday (doe tags for this area) and after the 8'th doe I decided it would fit the bill. Our freezer's have meat now lol.

I still have one doe tag left but I have decided to save it for our flintlock season after Christmas as I love to carry the smoke pole the most.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
