The previous owner of my CCC 682 installed a drain and vent hole in the aluminum rear end. I didn't realize it was there until I went to drain and refill the rear. I think it worked like a champ, a full 7 pints went back in. Anyone see any drawbacks to this other than I cannot use a standard hitch?

I like that idea. My super has a drain under the filter but It is never going to move again. Steel plug in an aluminum housing installed by a ham fisted gorilla years ago. I couldn't budge it with a 1/2" breaker bar and a 3/8" adapter. I was worried about taking the threads with it so I gave up and just remove the rear cover. The cover drain is a great Idea. I THINK that guy at "extreme motor works" makes a cover with drains in it. I have a frame mounted hitch plate so that isn't even a factor for me.

Weave,
I have an aluminum housing in the garage that I think has a lower mounted drain plug in the rear plate? I never paid that much attention to it, as I have not had a use for the housing at this point. I'm going to take a look at it in the morning to make sure that I am not completely crazy (I do admit to partially). Will try to remember to post pics. |

I get to spend a whole week in the garage with the Cubs! Sounded like fun at first, but looks like I have a lot of work to do before I actually get some "real" time wrenching.
Sorted through a massive amount of loose parts today. Just trying to get better organized before Spring is upon us. Kind of a boring/monotonous chore, but it was fun to find some parts that I forgot that I had. However, it was mostly just a bunch of nuts/bolts and engine parts. Looking forward to Friday when I have some extra hands coming over to help with the purge of wayward Cub parts! Best find of the day was the new throttle linkage for the M18 on the 782. Once I stumbled across it, I promptly installed it on Reddison! |

First pic of 2011 for me! Hauled some limbs, then hauled Jenn, as she wanted to get out for some fresh air. How's this, Duke?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
