Wow! Thanks for the thumbs up! I'm glad I didnt get raked over the coals for what I did to it. Being a life long mechanic I've done alot of the every day fixing and thats what I started to do with this monster. I was going to put it back to original but after finding out what the tins cost I decided what the heck I would make do with what I had.
And it's kind of cool to make something that is one of a kind and at the same time a hood, side covers and a paint job is about all it would take to put it back to looking stock. I only cut up what was already destroyed and bolted a few things on.
Thanks again for the kind words,
JD

Cub Kong: the first time I looked at it I thought to myself WTF!!! The second time I looked at the pictures I kind of giggled in a GOOD way. When I saw the front view with the teeth for a grill I thought YEAH!! Real nice job on that tractor!!!!

My first post here, what a great place to find much needed info on this Original I came across buried in the trees and vines on the property of an old farm house my son is renting. I hope to come across enough parts to get it going in the next year or two. It was given to me by the owner, he said it barely missed going to salvage the last time they hauled scrap iron. It really is in about as sad of shape as one can get in I suppose. It spent twenty years plus out there. The motor is blown, no doubt, rod is loose when you turn the crank by hand. Water has been in the transaxle for years now, ring and pinion and all lower gears in the trans are too pitted to use sadly.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
