Latest pictures brought out quite a surprise.
Seems as though this 1 1/2 year old either broke his skull cap and the antler is tilted out to the side, or he's growing it sideways
Either way isn't good. Nature! One never knows all that goes on in their world.

Seems to me that its abnormal? Not an injury to make it grow out the side of his head like that? But I'm no deer doctor.
Maybe he took a hard fall from momma onto a rock as she was giving birth?

Now all you gotta do is name him.

The sidewinder?
Or
?

NIK,

NIK,
Upon further examination I think we have come to the un-scientific conclusion it's a broke skull cap.
One of our neighbors killed one years ago that was similar and the skull cap was loose and the antler fell down the side of the head very much like this one.
The only thing holding it was the skin, (hide) as you can see the hump where the antler pedicle should be.

Default Opening evening!!!

Went out opening evening in my lucky, lucky spot and had this three year old wander in. Just so happened to be just the buck I was looking for.
Grim Reaper broad head found it's mark, and watched him drop after only 30 yards.
He was a light weight for a 3 1/2 year old. Weighed 166, but has an 17 1/2 inch inside spread and 12 score able points.
Then this morning I went down to check the cameras and got a few pictures of him opening morning a 1/4 mile from where I got him, to cool!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
