Default 42" Mower Deck ID 421U1113

I also have a mower deck that has a identification number 421 U 1113, but have seen several just say 421U1113. I understand there are three versions of the 42" deck and that maybe the last digit of 3 means I have the third version.

I am trying to find the part number for this mower deck and I have not had much luck. I have an original parts manual for the 38, 42, 48" mower deck, but I have one for 1965-1968 and another for 1968-1971. I have compared the parts pictures to what I have and I think it is a 1965-1968 but want to be 100% sure.

1965-1968 42" housing assy 477594R21
1968-1971 42" housing assy 489338R4

I have a CC 102 that I inherited from my Dad and I am trying to refurb things.

The deck I have is stamped with a cast iron nose so that narrows it down. This has the quick attach (QA) so I hope that narrows it down further.

Can someone tell me what each number means in the ID # I have"

I know the 42 tells me it is a 42" deck, but I would like to understand what the 1U1113 means.

I will greatly appreciate any help and information that folks may have for me on this research.

Both the 477594R21 and the 489338R4 have a cast iron nose (spindle) piece, however the 477594R21 also has cast iron side (spindle) pieces, the 489338R4 does not.

The U was the country of build (US), and 1113 was the generic serial number for IH attachments that did not have a specific serial number. Not sure if your 3 means version 3.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
