My first was a 106 I pulled out of a bone yard. Bought it by the pound. Fixed what needed, and flipped it and made pretty good money.
Had no idea back then about the "collectability" of Cub Cadets back then, but it was my first...

Cadplans, it's all in the maintenance. The biggest key is to, and most people don't know this, change the air in your tires biannually.

In my new barn now. An '83 MTD built 782. Use it alternating the mowing duties around the house with my XT2.

My 1st is a 1968 125. I wouldn't even think about selling it. I'm the 2nd owner. It came with the hydraulic lift, lights, 3 point, spring assist, 48" deck, IH rear blade and some other parts from an earlier model he had. I bought the Haban mower and wheel weights later. It's retired now, except tilling the garden a couple times a year.

Still have it, a 128 that I mowed with until it locked up one day. was full of oil, had been using it a year or two. haven't ever pulled it apart to see what happened. need to move it on to someone who really wants one I guess. I like my cyclops collection now.

That's likely your problem. If you fill an engine with oil, it will hydrolock...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
