Pictures
Here are a couple pictures. This has been a blast just trying to figure out what was going on. I began doing a little more research today. I think there have been a few more mods. Or maybe this is normal, Not sure. Is the oil filter normally there?
It is in amazing shape. He repainted it and did a pretty sad job. But there is no Rust, pitting, ect. New wire harness with updated fuse box. Extremely Clean. It was even clean on the underside around the rear end and steering column. Also realized after reading someone elses post on swapping engines into their 782 that this is a gear drive tractor and the 782 is hydro so I am going to need some kind of adapter to even make the swap work. The engine to transmission connection is way off. Even more reason to keep her intact.

Yes, that's the factory spot for the oil filter.
That is pretty cool. The PO did an awesome job in fabricating that setup. They were pretty inventive. Can't wait to hear how it mows.

Putting the Kohler that is in the 1806 into the 782 is easy and all the parts are available from Cub.

I checked the blades and it is confusing but they actually still turn the same way. The PTO is still spinning the same way and it is connecting to the same pulley on the deck and turning the pulley in the same direction. It hits the deck pulley on the opposite side but it is still spinning it the same direction. WHen the deck is in the middle the pulley is turning Clockwise. When the deck is in the front it is still turning clockwise.
I had to draw it out on paper.

I am so thrilled to have found this site! And so jealous of your find.
That mower with the DR string mod recently posted wound be a sweet setup for some ruff rocky ground. Or tall weeds with the deck trimmed in the front. Please, please take more pics and collect some detail on the mule. Could you place a ruler in occasionally? Interested in how the PO changed the tensioner arrangement. I would like to build one for this summer. Thankfully I have an extra deck. :-) Tim
