Darn nice work Oak. Wish you were closer to Indiana so I could get some help with my 3240. I work 10 hrs a day and live an hour away from work. I don't have near the time to spend on mine, so I'm a little jealous. I'd feed you some ribeye steak, fried fresh morels, and ice cold PBR for yer assistance!
You might think about a trip up North. The steak is tender and the shrooms alone worth the trip! |

Okay, it has been a few weeks but I finally got around to spraying some PPG paint today on the deck. Please let me know if I do anything wrong cause IDK much about painting.
I sprayed some primer a few weeks ago and did some wet sanding with 600 today and then wiped it down with denatured alcohol. DSCN1700.jpg I'm thinking the paint guy possibly broke one off in me cause he charged me a little over $50 for a quart of paint. I bet they love Joe Homeowner walking in and buying paint. It turned out pretty good for spraying outside. It was a little warm but not much wind and not many bugs. DSCN1706.jpg DSCN1707.jpg So far it looks like a pretty good match for the 3240. These tractors were painted a little different color than the other 3k machines. I guess I will let the paint dry for a few days and start the reassembly. DSCN1715.jpg Here is what I used. $50 a quart..... no, that's not really that high for good paint. Yellow is expensive. Gold in it you know. I thought it looked like the anniversary tractors were a different color. Shouldn't have to let it dry that long. 24-36 hours is more than enough. I guess waiting longer doesn't hurt. Did you use any hardener? |

Okay, got a little time today to get back on the 3240. I know we all like pictures so here ya go.
Both of my idler pulleys had some worn bearings so I purchased 10 of them for $14 off of Ebay. I drilled out the spot welds and bolted them back up. DSCN1738.jpg I replaced all bolts with grade 8 China specials from TSC. Prolly don't need grade 8 but I like the color. DSCN1737.jpg Here she is with the deck mounted and ready to go. DSCN1744.jpg DSCN1740.jpg DSCN1741.jpg DSCN1742.jpg I gotta fix that front bumper.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
