Comment edited. They are vertical shaft, and I am multitasking and responding without proofreading.

Oh, that makes more sense. I was wondering why a snowblower would be vertical when even tillers are horizontal.
Where are located? Like, what town? |

Same one you're in, ironically. Mon City. If you know where all the Cubs around here are parked and what they are, you probably know which house is mine LOL.

So, this cub fever thing seems to be escalating. Made a couple connections with an old family friend, going after work to pick up another cub for parts. Parts cub, however, "ran when parked" under a tarp 10 years ago, and I'm I might have yet another project on my hands. I can't wait for quitting time to come!!

1 hr left in my shift. I already hit the ATM and gassed up the truck on my lunch break. The suspense is killing me. His words keep running through my head. "It ran when I parked it" and "I have some other stuff too" keep giving me higher hopes and expectations than I probably should have. Giggity.

106 is home. Gas did not smell terrible, it had oil in it. Hooked up to cables, it cranks over. No spark. Cleaned the points, still no spark. I just plugged in the heater on the parts washer, put a battery on charge, and went in for super. More to come later

Definitely! I took a bunch of pics of my 127 and drug it up to the garage while it was daylight, gonna figure out how to put those up tomorrow. Will take a few pics and maybe video of the 106. I'll include the story, too.
Spent a little time with it tonight. Put a battery in. It won't crank with the key, but it turns over great if I put power direct to the starter generator. Wiring is all original and partially molested. Headlights work. Swapped the solenoid with the one off the 127 and messed with the connector on the ignition switch. Still nothing. Bringing my meter and a wiring diagram home from work tomorrow and doing some actual troubleshooting unless someone gives me a super common problem before I go pull the carb off and soak it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
