ok, between yesterday and today, i've learned what ever is going on is getting worst, yesterday, tractor would not start, but almost did, today, did not even try. So i went back to the basics:

suck, pump, bang, blow.

Suck: air/fuel: issues won't run to run poorly.
Pump: Compression, issue run poorly
Bang: spark/electrical, issues won't run to run poorly
Blow: exhaust, issues blocked, won't run

now lest remove two
pump and blow: both seems to work just fine.

next is bang.
that seems to work just fine, to day i sprayed a little carb cleaner in carb and got bang, so spark in fine.

that leaves us with suck.
before it was acting like it was getting fuel, a small amount, now it is acting like it's not getting any fuel.

would the best course of action be to take the carb off, take it apart and clean it with ether carb cleaner, MEK (methyl ethly ketone) or acetone (dimethyl ketone)

what do you think

By all means, pick up a carb kit (about $15 or so) and go through the carb.
Should have been one of the 1st things to do with a carb of unknown condition and sitting for a long period of time.
Should be many tutorial threads on here pertaining to how to do that.

This one comes to mind

Clean out the tank too & sediment bowl. Electrical, all else fails, run the machine in shop after dark no lights hood up or off, look for sparks.

Take hose off of carb let run into empty can to see steady flow. I just had a problem on my 1650. The positive cable copper connector to battery was tight but loose. I pulled it off and found corrosion, so I cleaned it, added electric grease, and recrimped.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
