If this does not work your pictures may be to large and will need to be resized.

Just wondering on this “It seized up on me” and “I got if free”.

What was going on when it seized up? Were you working the tractor? Was it warmed up, hot?, just trying to start it? What…

And how did you free it up?.. several times. What did you do to accomplish this???

Currently I can't get the motor to fire, it's getting fuel and spark but it won't fire, even on starting fluid or a little gas under the plug. Also when I was trying to get it to fire the motor had locked up on my but I was able to free it up. Seems like low compression as well. The motor just got a tune up as well so it has fresh oil, plug, clean carb ect.
How do you know it’s getting spark? What makes you think it has low compression? Did you do the tune up? What oil? With the temps we been having lately it should be 10w30. What spark plug? Gapped correctly? Should be Champion H-10C or equivalent gapped to .035 inches.

What was done to clean the carb? Is the rest of the fuel system clean? Spraying carb cleaner in the intake is not cleaning the carb. You may need to remove, disassemble and rebuild the carb properly;

What kind of condition is the starting circuit in? Does it crank over strong before it “seized”? A weak battery, corroded start circuit, worn out starter will not be able to spin that engine over well enough to fire it off. It will start to turn over, kinda weeze and then stop. Your battery should test 12.6 volts at rest. Not immediately after being charged, but after sitting overnight. You can then do a voltage drop test to isolate issues in you starting circuit;

Like others have said, did you check the timing?

How to set the timing using the static method;

If you need a new set of points;

Points Kohler (part # 47 150 03-S)

Verify that the valves are moving freely?

I know that the engine is new to you but do you know if the head has ever been decarboned?

How to de carbon the head, piston top, valves and lifter galley;

head gasket, stock, 10 - 14 HP (part # KH-47-041-15-S)

And how to plane the head;

I would be very curious about the start circuit…

Popping the head off will tell you a whole lot about the condition of the engine. You can see if the cylinder walls are scored, if the piston is super loose, if there's a ton of carbon built up, how the valves look, etc.

If you're convinced it's got serious mechanical issues, that doesn't take much time and is pretty easy to do.

I think that's the kit Mr Zippel used in one of his projects.

Wasn't there some issue related to the PTO?

Thanks for the reply guys, I was able to hunt down a 16 for the mower and am just going to do a swap seeing the 16 is what belongs in it. Maybe I'll give it a go at tearing down the 12 in it now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
