Its pretty close to a 1914 also...

Good find...
Leadslingingdaddy,

It does state 986 on the tag.. mod 143986100 serial 2050588U712490. When the tractor first came up for sale Oak had decoded it as follows in this link. (post number 12)

I'm going to play with it for a while... then it may hunt a home.. who knows..

I had thoughts of the 3 point and the rear PTO coming off but I hate to split up such a nice tractor with factory installed options on it!

I wish you lived closer! I'd love to see the machine in action.

Never had the opportunity to crawl around on one of the steel-hood supers.

I'm also on the never-ending hunt for a 982, or maybe a big-brother for my 1812.

Dane,

Underneath the 82 series aren't that much different than the Cyclops tractors. Even though the Cyclops was "all new" you can still see the IH 82 series heritage!

You guys have all the Supers up north.. wouldn't think it would be that hard to find one not too far from you.

Thanks Sam...

They usually all get along pretty well! If not they will be hunting new homes!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
