....no real story on the tractor, the guy who owns it now is trying to find the story out. he got it from another collector who knew nothing about it and didn't want it. it came as a deal with some other full sized IH tractors. so he sold it to the current own for $100 a year or so ago. the current owner has 4 cubs and 20 or so full sized IH tractor. he doesn't really know a lot on this tractor and hoping someone might be able to help ID it. he has a 3 digit O and sitting next he realized there was a lot of different things. The O in the pictures is a very High serial number 26,000 or 29,000 I have to look again.
So with the sticker of the engineering department on the side he is just wondering if this was something they were trying ne ideas on to improve the O towards the end before the 70 and 100. He figured if enough people seen it, someone would know the story.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
