I never could ride Bultacos, the shifter/brake was on the wrong side. I rode dirt bikes from '72 to '84. I'm 63. I learned a lot of what I know about working on stuff from those things.
I took the LT deck and sprayed it off on the way to mow my sons grass, I'll sharpen the blades on it tomorrow. Cannon |

Yep I learned that the hard way when I got on a Rokon, trees hurt.

Yesterday I got the deck up on some sawhorses to take the blades off. I went and got the breaker bar but didn't need it because the nuts were not much more than hand tight. The star gears that go in the blades were chewed up so I spent about 20 minutes with a drill and a rotary file straightening them up enough for the blades to go on without riding up on them. Sharpened the blades and installed them. Today I put the deck back on and leveled it up then went and mower a section behind the house that was hay field last year. I didn't mow it very close or fast but it did alright except when for I would clip a fire ant hill. I guess that concludes this episode of " Free is Not Easy or Cheap". I'll keep this thing through the winter and decide next spring whether to use it or sell it. The hour meter shows 40.8 hours some of the time and 8's all the way across most of the time. If it only 40 it was a rough 40.
Sam, I rode a Bultaco Pursang one time and crashed it before I got out of sight. Thanks Cannon |

Well at least it runs so it's worth more than when you got it.
A little nostalgia for us older than dirt, dirt bikers.

Update; The mower I use at mothers tore up last week so I took this one to her house and mowed her grass. Her grass is thicker than mine and I wanted to see if the 12 hp Briggs would bog down in it. The engine never seemed overloaded and the deck did a decent job of chopping up the leaves. There is a slight line where the blades come together, not uncut grass but like it's a different height. I'll get it back home in a few weeks and see if I can figure that out. It's never going to cut as well as the 1863/48 inch but I never thought it would. I did notice the drive being a little jerky so I removed the battery and noticed the belt idler arm was not moving freely. I soaked the pivot point down with dry lube and stopped that but top speed still seems a little slow. A few more weeks of mowing and leaf mulching here before putting the LT's away for the winter.

I know this is an old thread but I’m really curious if this worked out well? My courage 19hp just blew a hole in the back of the motor and I’d like to Repower it w something better...

I don't have any complaints, it cut's grass well. I don't use it as much as I do my GT's but it's fine for a residential lawn. The subdivision where my mother lives has several of them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
