MattG. Great! Thanks again. Now I can start to collect my parts.

MH - I fabricate everything I can. But some things I'd rather get factory. The 3 pt hitch, factory. The sleeve hitch adapter, I may make from scratch.

Thanks again. :biggrin2.gif:

Taking another look at my 122 raises yet another set of questions. First, has anyone actually seen a 122 plow? I haven't seen a picture or heard anyone talk about plowing dirt with a 122. Second, there's a plate that goes between and is bolted to the fenders. It appears that this plate needs to come off to mount the 3 pt hitch. Do the fenders rely on this plate for support?

You might have to remove that plate to mount the hitch, but you can put it back on again after it's mounted. There's a cutout in it for the hitch to fit through.

Your 122 will plow just fine. Just because few people plow at a plow day with one doesn't mean that it won't work...

Thank you once again, Matt. I can't see the entire plate since my weight bucket is on. I'm finding the hitch and adapter and plow all in the price range I want to spend. I just want to be sure before I drop a few hundred bucks. Then I'll have to wait all winter before I can try it all out.

First Cub I plowed with was a 122. Good plowing tractor if they are set up right.

I'm certainly looking forward to plowing. My cousin is a third generation dairy farmer, and I've done a lot with full size farm tractors. It should be a real blast to plow with the cub.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
