Just another Thanks to Romans, Roland and Oak for the info on the
cylinder. Been simply living with a bad cylinder on the 1862 for way to
long. After following this thread I bought the cylinder from Custom Cylinder
( super easy to do business with) and down the road I go. Works like a
charm. I too figured the problem was the PS unit. Simple fix thanks.

I realize this is an old thread but hopefully yall are still around, My PS on my 2182 is leaking from what looks to be around the input shaft, Is this a kit that would have seals and O rings to "Freshen up" the steering box?

Thanks

Will this cylinder fit both?

Going to the Tab at the top of the page that says "Cub Cadet Parts & Service Look-up" it states that the 2072, 1864, & 2084 use:

717-3041A-0637 POWER STEERING CYLINDER

Default New Cylinders received. Now what?

I got the new steering cylinders from Custom Cylinder. I'm about to change them out on my 2084. I'm wondering about how the trapped air gets flushed out of the cylinder after install. Is there a bleeding procedure or will it take care of itself after a few cycles of the gear?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
