Did the tractor stall or did you just turn it off and it won't start anymore?

Good Luck!
The 1620 and the early 1320 tractors have a "neutral indicator" on the control lever. The 1720 DOES NOT. Moving his lever won't do anything.

On the 1720, the only switches that affect engine cranking are the ignition switch, PTO switch and the brake pedal switch. Seat switch is NOT used. Of coarse, the starter solenoid is powered after all those switches are in the correct position.

To the OP: The best thing you can do, is go off the wiring diagram. If you don't know how to read it, not much we can do. It's a basic diagram, not even using standard electrical symbols, only pictures, so it's about as easy of a diagram as you can get. You are going to have to use a test light and follow the path of the start wire through the switches until you find the problem. If you do not think that you can do that, then you may need to contact your local repair shop. If you need a copy of the diagram, I believe it is in the service manual for your machine. If you need a copy, it can be downloaded through CCC's website. If you can't find it, let us know and maybe we can point you to it.

As a note, I did not post the switches in sequence.

Electrical path is as follows, in order:
Ignition switch, Brake pedal switch, PTO switch, Starter Solenoid

You're welcome.

Did you find the schematic?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
