Randy, I hope your mag never gives up! I have never thought the CH's put out the torque of a Mag. I know my 1811 will kick dads 1864's butt under load. I too have a CH18 to drop in a 682 (if I ever get time). I was going to mod it a little just because just because I think they (CH18's) are a little weak.

I figure as long as I hold onto the CH the Mag will be fine!!

I've got both, so you can bet I'll be doing some side by side comparisons. Maybe over July 4th weekend, and a few celebratory cold ones, a tractor pull will be in order!

I think the CH's suffer from emissions. the Van Guards suffer from the same lack of torque. buy a couple extra main jets and some # drills and play around with jet changes. you would be surprised. actually just pull the choke on a bit and they start to hang on better

I have found this to be true on both engines.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
