Thanks for the input guys and keep it coming. I'll look into the subframe idea and possibly attach it to the axle tubes with a hinge point and run forward to the deck lift arms to give it a tilt feature. Lowering the deck lift would push down on the subframe and tilt the crane forward. Raising the deck lift would tilt the crane back.

I've had the jack for about a year. So far, so good. Beats my old Crapsman that has leaked from day one. Fine Chinese "Craftsman"ship.

Another thing you could do is add something like a top link on the bar your using to keep your forks level. That way if you had to you can give your forks a little bit of a tilt.

? Or another approach. Would it make sense to build it more like a fork lift setup and use a small winch to raise it? This would keep the weight in close and help a bunch with counterweights struggles. Couple i beams tied together and a fork carriage with small bearings can be set up as guides for the forks (or short pole) to ride on. With this it could tie to the axles very easily. To get a little fancy use the lift arm with a 90deg pivot to move the top in or out.
May not do what you want or be the cool tool you are looking for. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
