Default 1862 pto

jsulona, This tractor ser.# 810526 early version but it had the 6" pto on it when I bought it. I took the new belt off it and put it on my other 1862 with a 50" deck. This was the belt it called for and worked ok. Spendcash remembered Roland discussing this a while back. The belt I need is 954-2023 a 93 1/8" belt. The deck is a 44" GT. There is no other numbers on it. This combo will make the blades spin faster but I can live with that. Thanks for all the help and have a great day.

I thought that the 93" belt did not work out for you with the pulley and PTO combo?

jsoluna, I may have wrote 93" but it was a 90" belt that would not work. I need a good used mule drive and when I get one I will order the 93" belt. Thank you for your help and have a great day.

Default 1862 pto belt

Hello all, I bought the 93 1/8 cub cadet belt. It was too long. Today I bought a 91" belt and it fits well and works. After putting the new belt on, I have the pto problem of only running with switch held in up position. It was working properly when I last used it. The tractor has been sitting since July. I have not been able to do much with 2 new Heart problems. Been working on the 1862 for a couple hours and had to stop and rest. Going to try to disconnect the pto switch under the seat and jumper the switch. Hope that works. Appreciate all the help I have received from the forum members. Have a great day.

Bob,

Sorry to hear about your heart issues, but glad you were able to get some time on the Cub. If you find you need any further assistance with the electrical side of the PTO operation, feel free to reach back out.

The video link I posted a few threads back goes over how the electrical circuit works and may help you determine what your issue is. Were you able to view it?

Based on experience, the most likely cause for the PTO not remaining energized in the center position would be the reverse switch being faulty, followed by a faulty reverse relay. Both of these circuits need to be functional in order for the system to work properly.

Default 1862 pto

jsoluna. Thank you for responding. I did watch your video but it is difficult for me To follow. When I bought this tractor the reverse switch was bypassed, one seat connector was bypassed(purple and black wires) The orange and yellow seat connector was connected. I tried jumping the orange and yellow seat connector but the tractor engine would turn over in start position but would not start. I have the deck and mule drive hanger off tractor and found a wire coming from PTO to ground was frayed. I corrected this but same old problem. I believe I replaced the pto switch soon after I bought it. Had this problem when I bought it. I can't find any adjustments for the air gap. Attached are a few pictures. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.

Sounds like you'll need to start checking for voltage. Make sure all checks are made with the key switch in the RUN position and with you sitting in the seat (although that appears it won't matter due to your violet/black jumper). Charge and load test your battery prior to making these checks to make sure you don't have some other supply voltage concern.

You should have 12v+ on the black wire at your relay with the PTO switch in START and ON.

You should have ground AT ALL TIMES on your gray wire at the relay if you are not in reverse, or if the switch has been bypassed.

You should have 12v+ on red/wht with your keyswitch in the RUN position, regardless of PTO switch position.

The brown wire should have 12v+ any time the PTO is requested on, either through the START or ON position.
