I suppose you could add a rust preventive to the anti freeze before putting it in. I've seen it at auto parts stores.

Yes the used antifreeze can carry heavy metals but sitting in a 55 gallon drum and just take it off the top should be ok. There is rust inhibitors in antifreeze already. With used stuff I'm not sure.

I hope I never have to say that word. It is illegal to make shine, that's why they make fuel instead. ![]()

It seems that some of you have gone to a lot of trouble to fill your tires. There is a little device that fits inside of the valve stem that allows you to fill the tire very quickly. It is not very expensive and can be reused many times. I got one at a tire store that sold a lot of tractor tires. It works with a garden hose of any type of pressurized sprayer. I used antifreeze and water at 50/50.

Like Methos said use Rim Guard. Thats what i used and i got 80 lbs per tire for weight at about 30 bucks. It also helps the farmers!!! Its 100% bio degradable and made from sugar beets! (keep me working). It does not rot rims either.

What does it offer for freeze protection? I have not found a Rim Guard dealer in the NY capitol district.

. Rim Guard™ is nearly 30% heavier than water. . Rim Guard™ is non-corrosive. . Rim Guard™ is non-toxic and biodegradable. . Rim Guard™ is freeze-resistant down to -35°F. . Rim Guard™ is cost effective because inner tubes are not needed and tires are easier to repair. I've been using this in my farm tractors for about 8 years now, it is FANTASTIC. You want to see BIG $$ try replacing a 40" rim on an 11,000 lb tractor because of calcium chloride damage. Almost rolled that tractor on a hillside, the downside rim just collapsed, the rims looked fine on the outside...very scary. Don't know current pricing but worth looking into for my GT's when the time comes. |

Holy crap! Started a good thread! LOL Ya they are all good points I would be interested in the "Rim Guard" if the price was resonable? I didn't think the WWF would be as corrosive as the calcium ? Anyone have a link, my tires are new no problems leaking might have to drain one down in spring and see what it looks like in there? Ya a lot of stuff is bad for the environment and I think long as its used and not abused will work. I use the end of an old 12v tire compressor with the valve stem clamp, then hose clamped it to the G sprayer. That garden hose setup sounds really good tho!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
