I looked hard for a QL. Couldn't get the one on craiglist local- got one from someone liquidating excess equipment and it was a 1650 last year via ebay. He held it for me for nearly a month..
Just went through the service once and a few oil changes. Runs great.. I didn't want(need) a project, I needed a tool. After cutting it seems to run better and better. I think it was carbon'd up quite a bit and the a/f was plugged. $400 for the cub and $400 for lodging/gas/food to pick it up. And we look fwd to doing minor stuff in the future- I'm sure my son's first engine rebuild will be a K341!! Michael

If you have a soft spot in your heart for a Cub, then follow your heart and find yourself just the one you want. But first spend alot of time here, reading and learning all you can. I was a Wheel Horse guy for many years before I bought my first and only Cub. It is a 1650, and I think its a great little tractor. I am trying to get setup with a lawn/garden tractor specific for each task I perform around here at home, such as mowing and tilling. What I will be using my Cub for is dozing/pushing dirt in tight areas, and setting it up with a ripper in the rear to bust up hard ground for landscaping. So at the end of this I will have two for mowing only, one for tilling only, and the 1650 for ripping/dozing only.
There are some really good and highly knowledgeable people here. Although I don't post here alot ( due to my WheelHorse addiction ), I am thrilled to be a member here, and I have gained much knowledge on Cub Cadet tractors from the fine men here. These guys know who they are. Happy to hear you appreciate the old iron. Be wise with your purchasing decisions, and you will enjoy the love of this for a long long time. Van

If you have a large open yard I wouldn't put a nice super out of the equation if you find one, especially a red one
