Well that just sucks.

But that just means something better is going to come along.

I just started to read this thread and got to the post where you said you got it. I then got up to get a drink, and came back to read that it was sold out from under you!!! I was disappointed big time for you!!! I didn't even know that they put the D640 in a 82 series Cub. I thought they started with the Cyclops series. As far as the price goes he could of probably got $3000+. I would not sell my 882 for any less than $2500 and it is in nowhere near as nice cosmetically as that 1772. That thing is clean!!

thanks for ths pats on the back, I'll find one. I really just started looking. I need to sell a few more things anyway.

it didnt have a 3 point or anything on it. he said hes never had anything on it other then the mower deck. so the engine has really never had a load on it.

I just looked in Oscar Will's book and the 1772 replaced the 1572 for the 1989 model year, and was only made one year before being replaced by the Cyclops 1782.

No,
I think you're right. The 1772's came from the factory with the side panel slots. Mine has the slot. I believe Cub Cadet came out with a service bulletin recommending adding the slot to earlier diesels to help with cooling.

4 speed

I know where one is for sale in the same condition 1 owner, weve worked on it for years here at the shop. I think he wants too much for it, but it can be had. I posted a pic of it on another site, Ive been accused of tryin to drive people to that site so I wont name it, and not wanting to help people on this site, but it out there in syber space. He has a comercial z turn he bought from us about 4 yrs ago with 68 hrs on it, he brings it in every year for me to change the oil on it. He very picky and hard to deal with guy. His wife hit something in the yard and warped the 50 inch deck, called us to buy a new one, and in talking with Frank he found I had a 60 and hes made me an offer I can refuse for it.

On another note I hate it when people sell out from under you. If someone calls me and says I want it but cant get there till tomorrow, what I do is hold it till a time the next day. Then I call the next person on the list. I had a 195 case one time and had a bunch of tire kickers wanting too look at it. Had a guy call me at 9 pm and said I know what it is and I want it, dont care if the motor is blown what ever I want it. He came at 11 pm and bought it. He wanted it that bad, dont blame him those things are hard to find. Hated to sell it, it was a fun tractor.

Dwayne,
Here's are a couple pics of my 1772. You can see the slots on the bottom of each side panel.

I've seen the pics of the 1772 Vince is talking about. Looks like an identical twin to the one you were trying to buy. The one Vince's talkin' about is a little pricey though.

Under edit: Dwayne, looking at your avatar pic, you can see the slot lower down on the side panel.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
