My wife gave me the raised eyebrows when I brought this 2072 home. If I try to cram another tractor in my shop she may try talking to me about it. Can't have that.

That's how we all start out. Just tell her you purchased the motor and the guy gave you the rest of the tractor for free. It was too good of a deal to pass up and now I can sell these other parts and make some money on the deal.

Big V, you and I won’t ever have to worry about winning a beauty contest, but no I was saying that engine looks ugly.

If you do get a replacement engine from a brand of tractor other than Cub Cadet , make sure to check the size of the crankshaft on the PTO side.

This thread is to help SumBum thru his problems not sell your items. We have the proper sections for sales, trades and CL links. Please list your items in the proper sections and if SumBum wants them he'll contact you. If you have any free parts he can use then list them here. I'm sure he'd be more then happy to recieve a free replacement engine and any help we can give him.

SumBum, If I had a motor to give away you would be receiving it.
Also one will come up, they always do. Once you get it running you will love the 2072.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
