It does not to me sound fuel related to me whatsoever. If it is the restored tractor in your avatar I would be looking at ground issues. I would make sure where all ground wires are attached it is clean and unpainted surfaces. A loose motor will also give you grounding issues. BTDT Somehow you need to check the hot side of the coil when this problem is happening to see if the 12v is dropping out momentarily.

If you do go driving it around at full throttle and full speed on rough and bumpy terrain in the dark... please have someone take video of the incident for the rest of us to enjoy.

get your kicks from America's Funniest Home Videos...(just kidding). But the fact that it doesn't happen at less than full throttle and he has been over the entire electrical system tells me it's fuel. maybe time for a new carb.

I also agree with it being electrical. There is plenty of reserve fuel in the bowl to compensate for a float bouncing.

I have a push mower with a horizontal engine (I guess most are), piston pumping front-to-back. Any time I run it into an obstacle, it misses a beat, just from the inertial shock out of time with the piston travel.

My interepretation of the original post is that it misses just one or two strokes on impact with a large bump in the terrain. I suspect in this case that it is not fuel related, as there are not many fuel supply problems I can imagine that will cause an engine to miss a quick stroke or two and recover. It's more likely a mechanical problem (governer bouncing, etc.) or electrical.

Is your ignition coil oil filled or potted? Oil filled ignition coils are KNOWN to display this behavior, as the coils bounce around unconstrained inside, and often break in intermittent fashion. I have been thru that exercise twice before.

I'm still fighting with this problem. Yesterday I went and bought a ignition coil and condenser from NAPA. The condenser didn't seem to helpand neither did the coil. I also replaced the aftermarket in line fuel filter that I had installed along with the fuel line. I guess I am going to have to go back to checking wires. I am hoping that I come across something I have missed before. Mark

ok, I guess I'll throw my two cents in. Have you checked the float level? My 782 would stumble and miss when going over bumps. the float level was set too high. I assume it was letting fuel slosh and acutually flooding the motor temporarily. This might explain why it only happens at lower rpm. At high rpm, the motor can burn the extra fuel. Hope it helps

You might check the plug for the ignition switch. They are prone to corrode. I know my 582 has it's moments when it refuses to start and I have to wiggle the plug at the ignition switch to get it to work..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
