I agree,
It's unbeliveable what all IH made at one time. It was all good heavy duty stuff that was designed and built to last a lifetime! I let a IH refrigerator go several years ago that my Grandparents bought new in 1955...still ran great! To bad most Americans have forgotten how to build a quality USA made product is anymore!! Jay |

Jay does indeed have an IH #7 dual axle 2000 lb load rated trailer made from 1965 - 1972. I sent him a copy of an IH dealer brochure on highway trailers and a parts manual extract. The single axle Model 2000 (same 2000 lb load rated) replaced the Model 7 in 1973. I have one of these.

Some indepth research will reveal Sears, Montgomery Ward & others made/sold manual lifts in the '60's for the popular Cub Cadets ( also incl. John Deere and other brands of the day). For the Cub Cadets, they were designed for the factory standard Cub Cadet (WITHOUT fenders). I have a Wards model which I had to modify the lift handle to accommodate the fenders on my 122 to use a rear blade. Works good.

MyronB, Is it possible to see pictures of brocure on #7 trailer? I have done a google search and come up with nothing. Wondering how many of these were made? Who made them and were they sold under different name with someone else's name brand stamp on it. Example, Brinley attachments with sears tags on them. Maybe John Deere had same one Painted green. Most of the larger companys that sell garden tractors kinda follow each other and are supplied by same cmpany.

Do not have that brochure scanned, but IH manufactured their own trailers. The IH Highway Trailer brochure indicates they did buy axles from an axle manufacturer but otherwise all manufacturing was all by the IH Industrial Division till near the end when they subcontracted out the assembly of some of the trailers and stopped manufacture of others. This was particularly true with the high volume consumer Model 1200s (successor to the Model 5). AFAIK, the Model 2000 (successor to the Model 7), and mostly used by dealers for deliveries, was not outsourced. Myron B

The brochure and parts breakdown are awesome! You are the only person who was able to shed some light on the mysterious trailer! Your knowledge and help is greatly appreciated. With your permission I would like to scan the info you sent me and post it on this site. I also plan to take some better pics of mine and post them I had been looking for a while before someone told me to contact you about trailer info. You are the GURU! I have never seen but one other Model 7 and it belonged to the local IH dealer here in Southeast GA. (Joiner International) No one seems to know what happened to it. Dad bought ours from the IH Dealer in Savannah GA. It was fairly new but had been in a slight accident and had the chassis knocked out from under the body. He bought the peices and brought it all home...straightened and repaired the chassis and put it all back together....that was in 1970...we have used it every since Does anybody else own or know where any more model 7's are? Or anyone have any production numbers? Thanks Myron and everyone else who commented or helped me! Luke, I will let you know when I get some more info or pics on here! Thanks Jay

Hi Jay.... I certainly have no objection to the IH Dealer Brochure being scanned and posted... It might help some one else. Please include the fact that the #5, introduced in 1961, was replaced by the 1200 and the #7, introduced in 1965, was replaced by the 2000 in 1973.

I think its neat that you have all three versions of the 1200..and the fact that they even made three versions...I'd love to see some pictures of all of your trailers on here. Do you own a #5 or a #7? Or do you know of any around anywhere? Thanks Jay
