so I have ben having trouble getting the reduction drive shaft out. I would like to replace the bearings, and I think they are the reason I cant get them out. I tried pressing it out with my vise, no luck there. so I am thinking that I need an internal bearing puller, but I am having trouble finding one that will fit in this bearing lip. (yes the snap ring is out)

is this the right idea?
and if so, where can I get this magic tool?

Blacktie, Look for 2 snap rings. 1 on the shaft, and the 2nd on the bearing. after they're out... the shaft and bearing should tap out easy with a light hammer. Also Shaft seal IH377959 R91 is NLA. Haven't been able to find anyone who has the IH part. I did find Napa Seal NOS 7636 does fit, but it will leak a bit. If anyone has a line on any IH parts folks who has this IH seal, i could use one for my "O". Hope this helps. -AL.

AL, thanks for the input... They were both out. I'm not sure what is stopping it. the whole shaft and bearing slide about 1/2" out then it hits a hard stop. I'm wondering if I should just move on and let the shaft have a little wiggle room, esp. if there is going to be an issue finding replacement parts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
