Your cast iron rear is a normal GT rear, it's geared a little higher for the smaller tires. As far as I know all the supers should have a 68 tooth reduction and 46 tooth ring. This model should be a direct swap for the axles, I think only the cyclops with the roller bearings had the 30mm axles.

You need to download the manual. It will tell you how to check. Matt G also had a good write-up on his site http://mgonitzke.net16.net/ look under 1872....hey where has Matt been?

Mike, now that u r on the computer, get your kids to show u the site "u-tube " and search setting up rearend or shims in rear. should be a lot of stuff. Just guard the little ones eys as there can be inappropriate info as well. I too have never set up gears on a rear so good luck with all that. Dave

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
